18/02/07 - First Team beat Henley 1-0 at the Rye Print E-mail

Wycombe Wanderers first team entertained Henley on Sunday and came away with a one nil victory.
This was a hard fought victory with the defence and goalkeeper, on top form preventing Henley from scoring.
There was a full debut for Sarah Tague who came in on the right hand side of midfield, with Charlie Clarke moving out to the left side.
Wycombe created some good opportunities in the first half with Su and Twiggy going close on more than one occasion. A superb corner from Twiggy perhaps should of been converted by Charlie coming in on the back post. Wycombe had many chances but were unable to convert.
Midway through the first half a superb through ball from Esther gave Su the chance to round the goalkeeper and give her the only goal of the match.
A superb individual performance from Kirsty Manning, especially in the first half, and a fine team defensive performance was enough for Wycombe to hold on to the lead.
The last part of the second was a little scrappy for Wycombe and Henley were determined to equalise and built on the pressure. Fortunatley for Wycombe, they were able to hold on.
This week we travel to Henley, we will need a strong performance if we are to come away with the points.

Managers POM: Kirsty Manning

FINAL SCORE: WWLFC 1 HENLEY 0
