Wycombe travelled away to Launton at the weekend and were cruely beaten by a 95th minute goal. The game was evenly contested throughout with no team, at any point, having the upper hand. It was a good performance from both defences, especially the Launton goalkeeper, who with the wind into her, kept Wycombe at arms length with some confident goalkeeping. Conditions made for a scrappy game with very few chances from both teams. There were fine perfomances from all of the Wycombe's back four, and a fantastic effort made by Kirsty Manning in centre mid, who at times seemed to be playing the oposition on her own! Hazel had to come off after a head injury, which forced Kirsty into centre back from centre mid and some other changes were also made to the teams formation. The game looked like it was going to end as a 0-0 draw as the time went over the 93rd minute, but with Launton playing centrally they managed to deliver the perfect ball for their forward to run onto and score in the 95th minute!! An extremely disappointing defeat but coach Graham Malcom insists we must take positives from the game. It has been a difficult season so far with injuries having a huge impact on team selection. We are currently still short of a few players, enough so that we cannot have the impact on this league which Graham and the team believe we could do.
