Last Saturday, Wycombe Wanderers U14’s completed their League fixtures with a 3-0 victory over the current 2nd place team Chesham United LFC, confirming their status as Bucks Girls League U14’s South Division Champions for 2005/06. Winning all of their games, they have collected maximum points, scoring 119 goals whilst conceding just 7 in Cup and League competitions this season. Squad: Ros Crawley, Sian Pill, Daisy Turner, Vicky Smyth, Tasha Smith, Kirsty Gladwin, Kathryn Head, Nicola Robinson & Julia Blackstock. Blues' U13 team could finish runners-up in the same league, if they win their final league game. The squad includes Livvy Thompson, Val Pitchers, Rebecca Richards, Charlotte Bagshaw, Louise White, Orla Dimond, Kate Hill, Ellie Laverty, Sophie Rooney, Philippa Hill. The U12 have also won their league, dropping just two points all season. Important goals in the closing minutes of key games against Marlow, Chalfont Saints and Bourne End to secure 1-0 and 2-1 victories gave the girls an impressive record in their first season of competitive football. They too will be competing in the Bucks Girls U12 Cup Final today in Aylesbury. Squad comprises Bonnie Craven, Megan Draper, Abbie Creed, Leo Lawrence, Emma Leith, Jay Brooker, Georgia Williams, Dani Jocelyn, Lorna Bradshaw, Katie Byson & Mich Bailey. Cup Final Day also provides opportunities for the U13 and U10 teams to play in a League tournament to complete this season. The Reserves, including several players now who have come through the junior teams, to play in Open Age competition are currently lying in second place in the Thames Valley Three Counties Women’s Division 2 South. Although Wanderers have played all their games Reading Girls A are just 2 points behind with 2 games still to play. Squad: Tracy Sturges, Buttons, Twinkle, Amy Watters, Sugababe, Kaye Forster, Maz, Sharon Farrell, Mollie Laverty, Hannah Wilson, Hannah Webb, Slatts, Rebecca Hilton, Hazel Knight, Stephanie Rowan. The First Team still have 2 Southern Region, Premier Division games to play and are currently lying right in the middle of the table. Wycombe are currently 6 points clear of teams both below and above, so that position looks fairly safe! Long term injuries have stretched the squad, particularly since Christmas, and the final position is reasonably satisfying, considering the problems that have had to be dealt with. Best wishes to all those players still recovering and we hope to see you back training soon. Squad: Sam Barwood, Jodie Taylor, Esther Morley, Su Oakley, Sophy Bowden, Elo Revans, Kirsty Manning, Leah Asante, Tina Nutt, Debbie Richards, Heather Scutchings, Renee Kwantes, Lina Bjornlund, Roisin Nellis, Jane Graddon, Katie Hudson, Charlie Clarke & Lucy Dewar. Thanks from all the players to coaches, parents – lift-providers, kit-washers, supporters, boot-purchasers etc etc. – and understanding friends & families, whose lives revolve around ever-changing fixture lists for most of the year; we couldn’t do it without you! |
