6/5/07 - First Team draw 1-1 with Henley Print E-mail

Wycombe travelled away to Henley on Sunday and returned with a one one draw and the first time that we have ever come away with any points.
The game was of a very high standard with Henley having two good opportunities in the first ten minutes. Wycombe settled in to the game with Renee in a new, more forward position, and this produced her best performance of the season. Wycombe were not without there own chances with Renee, Twiggy and Su all going close. Leah also had two chances - one of which at least should have been converted.
The second half began in very much the same way, with Henley going close on two occasions. Wycombe opened the scoring 15 minutes into the second half by a free kick swung in by Twiggy which beat everyone and ended up in the back of the net. Wycombe played some good football and were a little unlucky when Twiggys clearance hit the back of Charlie and fell to the one player Wycombe had feared all day Tina Leahy, who calmly finished. An unbelievable 7minutes extra was played but, to no avail, as the game finished 1- 1.
This was by far Wycombe's best performance of the season as every player contributed to the game, with Su having a relatively quiet game this was all the more pleasing.
Managers POM: Charlie Clarke
FINAL SCORE: WWLFC 1 HENLEY 1
